Job summary

Kanawha Scales & Systems (KSS) is seeking a skilled Scale Service Technician for the Harrison, OH area. You will install, calibrate, repair, and troubleshoot a range of industrial and commercial scales to ensure precise measurements and compliance with standards.

The role requires strong customer communication, record-keeping, and adherence to safety protocols. A high school diploma with technical training and 2–3 years of related experience is preferred; CDL is a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience in scale installation, calibration, and repair.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and NIST Handbook 44.
• Proficiency with calibration and measurement equipment.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varied conditions.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL a plus.
• AC/DC, MIG welding experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Install and set up industrial, laboratory, and commercial scales.
• Perform calibration procedures and adjust settings for precision.
• Maintain routine maintenance and diagnose/repair scales.
• Inspect scales for wear, damage and functionality; address component issues.
• Maintain service and calibration records and reports.
• Communicate effectively with clients about service needs and estimates.
• Follow safety protocols when working with heavy equipment and electrical components.
• Ensure scales meet quality and regulatory standards.
• Track tools and parts; replenish supplies as needed.
• Stay updated on scale technology advancements.
