Job summary

Emerson is seeking a Network Protocol Specialist in Austin, TX to design, certify, and integrate industrial communication technologies within DeltaV systems. You will work on a variety of protocols to ensure connectivity and interoperability.

You will collaborate with software and hardware teams, apply knowledge of Ethernet/IP, Modbus, PROFINET, OPC UA, LLDP, and PRP, and stay ahead of industry trends while supporting quality and compliance.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related STEM field.
8+ years with industrial network protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Modbus, PROFINET, OPC UA.
C++ development experience.
Strong understanding of Ethernet-based communication and real-time networking.
Familiarity with certification processes and compliance standards.
Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and troubleshoot industrial communication protocols and network configurations.
Act as SME for industrial networking technologies including Ethernet/IP, Modbus, PROFINET, OPC UA, LLDP, and PRP.
Collaborate with software and hardware teams to integrate protocol stacks and validate performance.
Participate in protocol integration reviews, compliance checks, and test design.
Monitor industry trends to inform design decisions and maintain competitive positioning.
Provide impact analysis for protocol-related changes on testing and schedules.
