Job summary

Dematic is seeking an Industrial Ethernet Network Engineer to lead the development and implementation of networking standards across North America. The role includes training, design reviews, and coordinating with project teams to ensure secure, scalable Ethernet networks.

You will work with multiple engineering groups, applying Cisco/Siemens/Hirschmann credentials and industrial protocols while traveling up to 25% to sites and customers.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of successful experience as an Industrial Ethernet Network Engineer or related field.
  • Experience with EtherNet/IP, CIP Safety, PROFINET, and PROFIsafe.
  • Proficient in NAT, VLANs, firewalls, routing, switching, monitoring.

  • Maintain North American Networking Standard Work.
  • Lead cross-functional Industrial Ethernet networking team to align Dematic groups.
  • Provide network design reviews and validation.
  • Travel up to 25% to project sites and customer meetings.

The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $90,750 - $133,100 at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.

Tasks and Qualifications
What You Will Do In This Role
  • Maintain North American Networking Standard Work.
  • Maintain Ethernet training program, including Hirschmann CT1, CT2, CP1, and CP2 classes.
  • Develop and maintain Industrial Ethernet and fieldbus networking standards.
  • Lead cross-functional Industrial Ethernet networking team to align Dematic groups.
  • Facilitate network technical reviews.
  • Provide network design assistance to project teams.
  • Provide network design reviews and validation.
  • Provide network troubleshooting assistance to project teams.
  • Conduit to Global Networking Architecture.
  • Network design that incorporates cybersecurity.
Team Responsibilities
  • Provide a high level of expertise to projects – Technical support, problem resolution, leadership, and technical integration
  • Technical training to team members within the project engineering teams
  • Provide expertise on system level drawings to ensure the engineering team is fulfilling all technical, Standard and regulatory requirements
  • Work cross-functionally across disciplines and functions/departments
  • Promote a culture of safety and compliance through open communication and empowerment
  • Identify opportunities and ideas to improve cost and efficiency.
  • Assess appropriate disciplines and skillsets of resources to successfully deliver engineering content and documentation
  • Travel up to 25% to project sites, customer meetings, support pre-sales activities, suppliers.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Network Engineering preferred).
  • 5+ years of successful experience as an Industrial Ethernet Network Engineer or related field.
  • Experience with various industrial protocols including EtherNet/IP (EIP), CIP Safety, SafeLink, PROFINET, and PROFIsafe.
  • Knowledge of Modbus TCP and EtherCAT is an asset.
  • Experience designing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintaining Industrial Ethernet networks.
  • Proficient in advanced network design, including NAT, VLANs, firewalls, subnetting, routing, switching, monitoring, and firewall technologies.
  • Hirschmann Industrial Network Professional, Cisco CCNA Industrial, Siemens Profinet Certified Engineer, or equivalent credentials.
  • TUV Rheinland Functional Safety of Machinery Engineer Certification or equivalent credentials is an asset.
  • Experience with both Allen-Bradley PLCs and Siemens TIA Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) is an asset.
  • Experience in Material Handling/automation industry is an asset.
  • Experience in an engineering position that is project-based is an asset.
