Job summary

Stepan Company is seeking a Construction Manager to oversee capital projects typically $1M–$3M, with a focus on safety, scope control, and schedule discipline. You will lead field teams, coordinate with contractors, and drive constructability from early development through turnover.

The role requires 5 years in heavy industrial manufacturing, PSM plant experience, and strong knowledge of SAP/Ariba and MS Project. A bachelor’s in engineering or construction management is preferred; PMP is a plus.

Qualifications

• 5 years’ experience in heavy industrial manufacturing.
• Chemical plant project execution experience required.
• Capital project execution experience required.
• PSM plant experience required.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management preferred; PMP is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate expertise in construction work safety and issue safe work permits.
• Develop and manage safe execution plans and project schedules.
• Review scope with contractors and ensure alignment with project expectations.
• Monitor progress and ensure field work aligns with drawings and scope.
• Support scope control and project change management with input from stakeholders.
• Develop construction plans and sequencing; create baselined schedules in MS Project.
• Provide detailed updates to the integrated project team during meetings.
• Coordinate PSSR walks, commissioning schedule, and QA documentation.
