Job summary

Elmet Technologies, Lewiston, ME, is seeking an Industrial Engineer to join the Planning team. You will analyze workflows, implement Lean improvements, and drive capacity planning to optimize throughput and reduce waste.

Collaboration with Operations, Quality, and Maintenance is essential to boost OEE and safety. The role demands 2–5 years in manufacturing engineering, strong data analysis, and experience with ERP/MRP and Excel; Power BI is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
• 2–5 years of industrial or manufacturing engineering experience preferred
• Experienced with factory capacity modeling required
• Background in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or other continuous improvement methodologies
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret manufacturing data and performance metrics
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel; Power BI or other CAD software is a plus
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, workflow optimization, ergonomics, and capacity planning
• Excellent communication, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills
• Experience in aerospace, defense, precision machining, metals manufacturing, or other advanced manufacturing environments preferred

Responsibilities

• Analyze manufacturing processes to improve productivity, quality, safety, and cost performance
• Develop and implement process improvements using Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
• Conduct time studies, workflow analysis, and capacity planning to optimize labor and equipment utilization
• Support production layout improvements, standard work development, and manufacturing process documentation
• Partner with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to troubleshoot manufacturing challenges and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
• Support capital improvement projects, equipment installations, and manufacturing automation initiatives
• Analyze production data and develop performance metrics to support operational decision-making
• Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action activities to improve product quality and process reliability
