Job summary

Thompson Construction Group, Inc. is seeking a Pipe Fitter to layout, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment. Work includes following blueprints, ensuring safety, and completing tasks in a timely manner.

The role requires reading and writing clearly, basic math skills, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Expect 40+ hours per week with potential weekend work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Select type and size of pipe and related materials according to specifications.
• Plan installation or repair to avoid obstructions and disruption.
• Cut pipe using saws, pipe cutter, hammer and chisel, or cutting torch.
• Thread pipe using pipe-threading machine.
• Bend pipe with appropriate tools and machine.
• Assemble and install metal and nonmetal pipes with various joints.
• Secure pipes to structure with brackets, clamps and hangers.
• Install and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic components and equipment.
• Install and maintain compressors, pumps, meters, and piping per blueprints.
• Increase pressure and test system using gauges.
• Might weld pipe supports to structural steel.
• Observe machinery for malfunctions and operate to verify repair.
• Respiratory protection may be required and safety rules observed.
• Other duties as assigned.
