Job summary

Burrow Global Fabrication in Jacksonville seeks an experienced Industrial Painter and Sandblaster to prep steel surfaces, blast and coat using epoxy/polurethane systems. You will estimate material needs, manage inventory, and ensure safety compliance on fast-paced projects.

The role requires 5 years in industrial painting and sandblasting, familiarity with SSPC standards, and ability to work overtime as needed at the Jacksonville facility.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; trade certificate or vocational training preferred.
• 5 years of experience in industrial painting and sandblasting
• Proficient in abrasive blasting (SSPC-PA or SSPC-SP standards) and surface prep for steel.
• Experience with industrial coatings systems (epoxies, polyurethanes, zinc-rich primers) and cure times.
• Ability to estimate material requirements and perform basic takeoffs from specs, drawings and work orders.
• Familiar with coating application equipment (airless and conventional spray guns, plural-component systems) and safety procedures.
• Ability to read project specifications, painting schedules, and material data sheets (SDS/MSDS).
• Valid driver’s license and ability to commute to Jacksonville facility.
• Willingness to work overtime, nights, weekends, or extended shifts as needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare steel skid surfaces for coating by abrasive blasting, masking, and masking removal.
• Inspect surfaces for defects and ensure proper surface profile and cleanliness prior to coating.
• Apply primers, intermediate coats, and topcoats by spray, roller, or brush methods as specified.
• Mix and match paint and coatings according to manufacturer specifications and job requirements.
• Estimate material requirements for each project and maintain inventory; coordinate with purchasing.
• Maintain and calibrate spray equipment, air compressors, and blasting equipment; perform routine maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations (OSHA, NFPA; hazardous materials handling; PPE).
• Document work performed, materials used, and time spent; update logs/reports.
• Plan spray and blast schedules with project teams to minimize downtime.
• Cleanup work areas and dispose of waste; maintain housekeeping.
• May perform basic surface prep or light grinding and assist with minor welds as trained.
