Job summary

Palacios Marine & Industrial is seeking a Painter Blaster to prepare surfaces and apply protective coatings to structural steel and equipment at various sites. Ideal candidates have experience with abrasive blasting, spray painting, and safety compliance, and can read work orders and specifications.

The role requires lifting up to 50 lbs, working at heights, and adherence to OSHA standards on industrial projects.

Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years of experience in abrasive blasting and industrial/commercial painting preferred.
Knowledge of surface preparation standards and coating applications.
Ability to read and interpret work orders, specifications, and safety procedures.
Experience operating blasting equipment, spray painting equipment, and related tools.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in physically demanding environments.
Must have valid DL/ID and be able to pass hair follicle test; TWIC is required.

Responsibilities

Perform abrasive blasting, sandblasting, and surface preparation activities.
Remove rust, scale, old paint, and contaminants from surfaces.
Apply primers, paints, epoxy coatings, and protective finishes per project specs.
Inspect surfaces before/after blasting and painting for quality standards.
Operate and maintain blasting and painting equipment safely and efficiently.
Mix paints and coatings according to manufacturer specifications.
Follow all safety policies, OSHA regulations, and job site requirements.
Maintain records of materials used and work completed.
