Job summary

U. S. Steel is seeking a Maintenance Technician Mechanical to join its large-scale steel production operations. The role focuses on installing, maintaining, repairing, and operating a range of mechanical systems in a heavy industrial setting to keep production lines running.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of industrial experience, a high school diploma or GED, and a readiness to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, with strict safety compliance.

Qualifications

• 1 year minimum manufacturing/industrial experience or equivalent education.
• Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication, power transmission, welding, pipefitting, structural repair or diesel mechanics.
• Able to work at heights or in confined spaces as required.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts, overtime, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical systems and equipment including conveyors, cranes, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Operate equipment and perform preventive maintenance to ensure continuous operations.
• Follow safety procedures and wear required PPE (hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection).
• Work in various plant areas with potential hot, cold, dirty, greasy, wet, and noisy environments.
