Job summary

United States Steel Corporation in Granite City is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to install, maintain, repair, and operate a broad range of mechanical systems in a heavy industrial setting.

You’ll work an 8-hour rotating shift starting with a safety huddle, use cranes and forklifts as needed, and collaborate with fellow technicians to keep the mill running smoothly while following strict PPE protocols.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must pass assessment test(s).
• At least 1 year of manufacturing/industrial experience or equivalent education.
• Availability for 8-hour rotating shifts including weekends and holidays.
• Willingness to work overtime as needed.
• Strict adherence to safety procedures and PPE.
• Reliable, punctual attendance and strong self-direction.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical systems and equipment: hydraulics, pneumatics, lubrication, power transmission, conveyors, cranes, and mobile equipment.
• Assist with operating functions to support production.
• Work at heights and in confined spaces with proper procedures and permits.
• Switch between independent work and collaboration with other maintenance technicians.
• Cover various plant areas with hot, cold, dirty, greasy, wet, and noisy conditions.
