Job summary

General Motors is seeking qualified Mechanical Journeypersons (Millwright) to work with minimal supervision on industrial machinery, conveyors, robotics, and automation systems. The role requires reading blueprints, operating CNC tools, maintaining piping, and performing precise measurements to ensure defect-free parts.

Ideal candidates have 6+ years as a Millwright or a US DOL Millwright certificate, are 18+, and can pass GM’s hiring processes.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 years of related experience as a Millwright or a US DOL Certificate of Completion in the Millwright trade.
• Must pass GM hiring process including assessments, drug test and background check.
• Must be 18 years of age and eligible to work in the United States.
• Willing to work flexible shifts, overtime, weekends and holidays with short notice.

Responsibilities

• Follow OSHA safety procedures and company procedures.
• Maintain, dismantle, repair, and replace mechanical and hydraulic components on industrial machinery.
• Layout, assemble, fabricate, maintain, and repair piping systems.
• Operate hand or power tools for measuring, cutting, threading, bending, and installing pipes and fittings.
• Read and interpret blueprints for conveyors, robots, and automation systems.
• Operate mobile equipment and rig equipment for lifting.
• Set up CNC machines to cut, bore, or shape parts to specifications.
• Plan sequences of operations using blueprints or models.
• Verify dimensions and tolerances with calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators.
