Job summary

Coffman Engineers’ Burlington office is seeking an entry-level IndustrialMechanical Designer who will grow within a collaborative team. You will develop drawings in conformance with project specifications, and learn piping systems, P&IDs, PFDs, and valve types while contributing to design and drafting tasks.

This role offers mentorship in a multi-disciplinary environment, with occasional site travel and opportunities to advance technical skills in a supportive, growth-oriented setting.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a CAD training program or technical/associates degree (preferred).
• Experience in AutoCAD and Revit; CADWorx or Plant 3D a plus.
• Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Familiarize with accepted design/drafting methods, engineering principles, and materials.
• Provide recommendations for design adaptations and modifications.
• Under supervision, incorporate design decisions using specified materials and processes.
• Use 3D point cloud laser scans for 3D piping design.
• Set up new projects using AutoCAD sheet set manager, templates, and dynamic referencing.
• Dimension and prepare piping plans, elevations, sections, and isometrics per requirements and P&IDs.
• Conduct verifications of existing facilities and provide new piping/equipment arrangements.
• Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and structural disciplines; travel to job sites as needed.

Coffman Engineers is seeking an entry-level IndustrialMechanical Designerwho is eager to learn, grow, and develop their technical skills as part of a collaborative and growing team. The successful candidate will develop drawings in conformance with project specifications, scope of work, design parameters, codes, and industry practices, and develop a working knowledge of process piping and piping systems; Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs); Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs); Piping Material Specifications; and valve and instrumentation types and uses.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a certified CAD training program or a Technical/Associates degree in engineering or related field (preferred)
• Experience in:
  • Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit (Intergraph CADWorx and Autodesk Plant 3D a plus)
  • Bluebeam Revu
  • Microsoft Office products
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Required Responsibilities Include:

• Become familiar with accepted design/drafting methods and concepts, engineering and design principles, terminology, and manufacturing materials.
• Provide recommendations for design adaptations and modifications.
• Under supervision, incorporate decision recommendations. Make decisions regarding design suitability using knowledge of specified product materials and production process.
• Use 3D point cloud laser scans as a design tool for 3D piping design.
• Set up new projects utilizing the AutoCAD sheet set manager, template files and dynamic referencing.
• Correctly dimension and prepare piping plans, elevations, sections, and isometrics in accordance with project requirements, P&ID’s, and field information.
• Perform walk downs and verifications of existing facilities and piping configurations, as well as developing new piping and equipment arrangements based on existing conditions.
• Coordinate across a variety of design disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, and structural.
• Occasional travel to provide support at job sites.

Expected annual salary of $55,000 - $65,000.
