Job summary

North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) is seeking an Industrial Mechanic to perform skilled preventative and corrective maintenance on water and wastewater treatment equipment, including ozone generators and pumps. The role requires reading technical manuals, diagnosing mechanical issues, and coordinating with operations staff to keep critical systems running.

The position involves 12-hour shifts or on-call rotational duties, with overtime as needed, and driving a District vehicle.

Qualifications

• Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
• One year of maintenance experience on mechanical equipment used in water/wastewater treatment.
• TCEQ Water/Wastewater license preferred.
• Requires a valid Texas Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Maintains various water and wastewater treatment, purification and production equipment and performs mechanical repairs to keep equipment operating efficiently.
• Maintains pumps, motors, pipes, actuators and valves using established repair skills.
• Orders and purchases parts as needed to facilitate prompt repair and maintenance of District assets.
• Coordinates with water and wastewater operations personnel to ensure critical equipment is operational.
• May assist other departments during emergency repairs or routine maintenance.
• Performs routine preventive maintenance as specified in manuals.
• Performs repairs and preventive maintenance on other equipment as directed.
• Observes safe work practices and uses safety equipment; handles permit-required confined space entry and lockout/tagout.
