Job Description Summary:

The Industrial Electrician-Ozone performs standardized electrical repair duties requiring an operational knowledge of electrical/electronic theory. The Industrial Electrician - Ozone identifies and remedies problems using independent judgment and electrical experience. May supervise a group of electricians on special jobs or work orders. The Ozone Industrial Electrician may work any shift including overnights.

Job Description:

Job Responsibilities

• Inspects, repairs and maintains electrical systems and equipment. Will be required to locate and evaluate electrical malfunctions.
• Program and setup metering, monitoring, and control devices in accordance with coordination studies.
• Performs required maintenance according to manufacturer’s specifications.
• Performs programming diagnostics of electronic protection metering and controls.
• Maintains calibration and repair schedules for electrical test equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance work on motor control centers.
• Assists Central Maintenance Manager on electrical transmission and substation outages.
• Observes safe work practices through proper use of safety equipment and procedures including permit required confined space entry and lock out tag out.
• Responsible for ensuring subordinate employees observe safe work practices at all times.
• Responsible for ensuring subordinate employees receive required trainings.
• Assists subordinate employees with troubleshooting and repairing of electrical equipment.
• Maintains record of all programs related to switchgear and motor starter controllers and devices.
• Maintains a working laptop computer and keep records and programs up to date.
• Will be required to be on a rotational “ONCALL” status to respond to NTMWD repairs outside of normal business hours must be able to work overtime when needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education & Experience:

• Mustpossessa high school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of two years of experience as an Electricianin an industrial setting.
• Mustpossessa a valid Electrical Journeyman’s license or obtain an Electrical Journeyman’s license with the State of Texas within 24 months.
• Requires a valid Texas Driver’s License.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Must also be knowledgeable of high voltage equipment and their specific safe working practices.
• Must be knowledgeable of electrical theory and practices.
• Must be knowledgeable of safety pertaining to electrical distribution systems and equipment.
• Must have the ability to operate a computer in the field and read schematic and one-line drawings.
• Basic knowledge of Wylie Water Plant substations and electrical transmission system.
• Basic computer and programming skills to maintain and program metering and monitoring equipment such as SEL, Multilin, VFDs reduced voltage start and dc motors, etc.
• Must be proficient in the use of the District Computerized Maintenance Management System.
• Must have the ability to comprehend, carry out and administer written and oral instruction.

Environmental and Physical Working Conditions

Driving a District vehicle for business will be required. Employees required to drive as part of their job duties are responsible for maintaining a current, valid, and vehicle - appropriate driver’ s license of their resident state.

Heavy physical exertion with lifting requirements from 10 to 70 pounds daily. Work also requires pushing, pulling, climbing ladders and working at heights and in confined spaces including trenches and above and below ground. May also work in apparatus at height, scissor lift etc. Working conditions include exposure to high voltage areas, weather, odor, noise, chemical hazards, gases and dust. Equipment utilized includes small hand and power tools, electrical and testing equipment.
