Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. in Rahway, NJ, seeks a skilled pipefitter/plumber to install and maintain all piping and plumbing in a pharmaceutical manufacturing setting.

Under supervision, you will perform maintenance on associated equipment and support the M&U department with cross-functional tasks as needed. The role requires reading blueprints, working from CMMS-driven work orders, and coordinating with supervision on problem resolution.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with approved pipefitter/plumber apprenticeship or equivalent.
• US Department of Labor approved trade school or journeyman program.
• Military training equivalent to a recognized/accredited trade program.

Responsibilities

• Installs, lays out, bends, cuts, threads and joins pipe for steam, gas, air, water and process materials.
• Maintains drainage, waste and vent systems and supports piping installations.
• Inspects gauges, recommends repairs and performs work as directed.
• Writes, executes and completes safety permits and participates in safety trainings.
• May assist CMMS planning, scheduling and material estimates.
