Job summary

MSD is seeking a skilled pipefitter/plumber to install and maintain piping systems in a pharmaceutical manufacturing setting. You will work under Maintenance and Utilities management, reading blueprints and CMMS work orders to lay out, install and repair steam, gas and process piping.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED plus an approved pipefitter/plumber apprenticeship (or trade school with relevant coursework). Military training equivalent to a journeyman program is desirable.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School Diploma or GED and completion of a formal pipefitter/plumber apprentice program approved by the U.S. Department of Labor or equivalent.
• Alternative: graduate of a recognized pipefitter/plumber trade school with relevant coursework (blueprints, industrial piping).
• Military training equivalent to a recognized trade school or journeyman apprenticeship is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Install, lay out, bend, cut, thread and join pipe and fittings for steam, gas, water, and process materials.
• Maintain drainage, waste and vent systems and install various pipe materials (stainless steel, copper, PVC, etc.).
• Inspect gauges, perform repairs, and maintain restrooms and related fixtures.
• Read blueprints and CMMS work orders; prepare labor and material estimates; assist with scheduling using CMMS.
• Advise on spare parts, coordinate work and ensure safety and compliance during operations.
