Job summary

UPS in Richmond, VA is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic/Industrial Electrician to support the package sorting system, including conveyors. This full-time, night-shift role involves maintenance on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, PLCs, and related equipment.

Training, weekly pay, vacation accrual, and advancement opportunities are offered. The position is based at 9601 Coach Road, Richmond, VA 23237, with Sunday through Thursday, 9:00 PM to 5:30 AM shifts.

Qualifications

Grade 12 education or equivalent.
Ability to receive and give instruction over radio in industrial environment.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Experience of performing maintenance on conveyor belts is an asset.
Knowledge of electrical and building schematics is an asset.
Knowledge of keyboard and basic computer skills is an asset.

Responsibilities

Inspect, troubleshoot, repair and/or replace mechanical components on conveyors and related equipment.
Troubleshoot and repair AC/DC electrical equipment (batteries, control stations, fuses, motor starters, relays, switches, timers, PLC).
Inspect, troubleshoot, repair and/or replace pneumatic equipment (puck sorters, air compressors, hoses).
Inspect, troubleshoot, repair and/or replace hydraulic equipment (hoses, fittings, cylinders, pumps).
Weld equipment such as handrails, conveyor supports and shipping equipment.
Perform preventive maintenance inspections of plant equipment.
