Job summary

Commercial Metals Company is seeking a Maintenance Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment across our plants. You’ll utilize SAP for work orders, interpret blueprints, and lead maintenance projects with a team.

Successful candidates will demonstrate strong troubleshooting skills, experience with heavy equipment, and a commitment to safety. Training and advancement opportunities are provided in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Experience diagnosing mechanical/electrical faults.

Responsibilities

• Participates in CMC safety programs and maintains culture.
• Diagnose malfunctioning systems using test equipment and tools.
• Use SAP maintenance module to execute work orders.
• Lead and document maintenance projects with peers/contractors.
• Interpret blueprints and schematics for repairs.
• Monitor equipment for defects and replace worn parts.
• Prepare maintenance reports with data trends.
• Work safely following PPE rules and safety standards.
• Lead start-up/shut-down activities per SOPs.
• Troubleshoot issues as they arise using proper processes.

What You'll Do

• Participates in the CMC Safety Programs and proactively upholds the CMC Safety Culture
• Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment, hand tools and personal knowledge to determine root cause
• Use SAP maintenance module in the execution of duties, utilize computers to acquire information, documentation, account for time and corrective actions
• Demonstrates dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs
• Interpret blueprints, drawings, and schematics
• Meet expectations of work quality
• Monitor and inspect equipment for defects. Properly remove defective parts by dismantling devices using hoists, overhead cranes, hand, and power tools
• Possess specific fundamental knowledge of bearings, power transmission equipment, hydraulics/pneumatics, lubrication, welding principles, rigging, overhead cranes, gearboxes, and mobile equipment operation
• Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
• Work safely to prevent on the job injuries by following safety rules and regulations at all times including proper wearing of company PPE
• Lead, coordinates, and documents assigned maintenance projects, including work involving processes, peers, and contractors.
• Leads department start-up and shut-down activities in accordance with standard operating or routine procedures.
• Participate in CMC Safety Programs and proactively uphold the CMC Safety Culture
• Troubleshoot issues as they arise.
• Use SAP to execute work orders and preventive maintenance and use QMOS to follow up on delays.
• Works safely at all timesby following safety rules, regulations, and PPE requirements.

What You'll Need

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work in heights for extended periods of time in extreme temperatures
• Ability to utilize precision measurement instruments
• Ability to work rotating shifts which include weekends and holidays
• Experience with welding, cutting, fabrication, and equipment maintenance preferred
• Minimum 1 year field experience in either heavy industrial operations and/or manufacturing environment preferred
• Minimum 1 year of experience with welding, cutting, fabrication, and equipment maintenance preferred
• Minimum 3 years of field experience in either heavy industrial operations and/or manufacturing environment strongly preferred
• Ability to read hydraulic schematics, troubleshoot hydraulic systems, and diagnose pressure-related issues.
• Advanced experience with pumps, gearboxes, pneumatic systems, and rigging/heavy-load calculations.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in heavy industrial or manufacturing environments.
• Positive attitude with strong communication skills and willingness to support team and shift coverage needs.
• Ability to work rotating shifts (nights, weekends, holidays).
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including standing, walking, bending, and working at heights in extreme temperatures.

Your Education

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
