Job summary

CMC provides an opportunity to learn the steel, construction reinforcement and ground stabilization industries while growing your career across its facilities. The role involves diagnosing equipment issues, using the SAP maintenance module, and coordinating maintenance tasks to ensure safe, reliable operation.

You will read blueprints, select bolt grades, inspect for wear, and lead start-up and shutdown activities in accordance with SOPs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required; trade training is a plus.
  • Experience with hydraulics, pumps, and gearboxes is preferred.
  • Welding, fabrication, and equipment maintenance experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the CMC Safety Programs and upholds the CMC Safety Culture.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems and determine root causes using tools and knowledge.
  • Use SAP to execute work orders and preventive maintenance; document actions.
  • Lead maintenance projects and coordinate with peers and contractors.
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and schematics to support repairs.
  • Monitor equipment for defects and safely remove defective parts.

What You’ll Do
  • Participates in the CMC Safety Programs and proactively upholds the CMC Safety Culture
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment, hand tools and personal knowledge to determine root cause
  • Use SAP maintenance module in the execution of duties, utilize computers to acquire information, documentation, account for time and corrective actions
  • Demonstrates dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs
  • Determine grades and sizes of bolts, pipes, tubing, cables, and wires
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and schematics
  • Meet expectations of work quality
  • Monitor and inspect equipment for defects. Properly remove defective parts by dismantling devices using hoists, overhead cranes, hand, and power tools
  • Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  • Work safely to prevent on the job injuries by following safety rules and regulations at all times including proper wearing of company PPE
  • Lead, coordinates, and documents assigned maintenance projects, including work involving processes, peers, and contractors.
  • Leads department start-up and shut-down activities in accordance with standard operating or routine procedures.
  • Troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Use SAP to execute work orders and preventive maintenance and use QMOS to follow up on delays.
What You’ll Need
  • Ability to utilize precision measurement instruments
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including standing, walking, bending, and working at heights in extreme temperatures.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts which include weekends and holidays
  • Positive attitude with strong communication skills and willingness to support team and shift coverage needs.
  • Experience with welding, cutting, fabrication, and equipment maintenance preferred
  • Possess specific fundamental knowledge of bearings, power transmission equipment, hydraulics/pneumatics, lubrication, welding principles, rigging, overhead cranes, gearboxes, and mobile equipment operation
  • Minimum 1 year field experience in either heavy industrial operations and/or manufacturing environment preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with welding, cutting, fabrication, and equipment maintenance preferred
  • Ability to read hydraulic schematics, troubleshoot hydraulic systems, and diagnose pressure-related issues.
  • Advanced experience with pumps, gearboxes, pneumatic systems, and rigging/heavy-load calculations.
