Job summary

Mativ is seeking an experienced Maintenance 1 Technician to join our Athens, GA team. This hands-on role troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains production machinery and mechanical systems to ensure efficient operations. A proactive mindset and detailed record-keeping are essential for uptime.

The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical background, can read blueprints, work independently, and is flexible for shifts and overtime. Industrial maintenance experience is valued.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical aptitude with accurate issue diagnosis.
• Proficiency with hand/power tools and measuring instruments.
• Ability to read blueprints and work with close tolerances.
• Flexibility for shifts, overtime, and on-call work.
• High school diploma or GED required; technical schooling preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve mechanical and control issues in production machinery.
• Tear down, rebuild, and adjust equipment for optimal performance.
• Perform facility maintenance including welding, plumbing, painting, and carpentry.
• Maintain facility systems: lighting, HVAC, and structural components.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and document downtime for each machine.
• Instruct production teams on preventive maintenance procedures.
• Ensure proper use and organization of tools and equipment.
• Basic electrical theory knowledge; install and troubleshoot motors, drives, relays, sensors, and solenoids.
• Familiar with PM and CMMS.
