Job summary

Plastic Recycling in Indianapolis operates a full-time maintenance role focused on keeping shredders, grinders, wash lines, extrusion lines, and other production machinery running safely and efficiently.

You will diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, troubleshoot PLC-controlled systems, and assist with new equipment installation while maintaining thorough CMMS records and upholding lockout/tagout safety practices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred.
• 2+ years industrial/manufacturing maintenance experience preferred, or equivalent technical training and hands-on experience.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical circuits, and hydraulics.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
• Welding and fabrication skills are a plus.
• PLC troubleshooting experience preferred; programming expertise is not required.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in industrial conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on all plant equipment according to schedules.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on production machinery.
• Troubleshoot PLC-controlled systems and assist with minor programming adjustments.
• Maintain and repair pumps, motors, conveyors, gearboxes, and other components.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime.
• Assist in installation and commissioning of new machinery.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs and documentation (via CMMS).
• Maintain shop cleanliness.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, including lockout/tagout procedures.
• Collaborate with production teams to identify and resolve recurring issues.
• Order and manage spare parts inventory as needed.
