Job summary

Ryerson is seeking a skilled Utility Mechanic to repair and maintain plant equipment daily, including processing, material handling, and overhead cranes. You will participate in an apprenticeship during onboarding and contribute to a safe, efficient production environment.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of manufacturing maintenance experience, strong PLC and hydraulic/pneumatic knowledge, and the ability to read blueprints and s chematics.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing facility, preferably steel processing.
• Knowledge of coil processing equipment (cut-to-length & slitters).
• OSHA requirements regarding equipment.
• Proficient with PLCs, electrical, mechanical, air, hydraulics & blueprints.
• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills; able to manage changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Promote & demonstrate a safe work environment
• Comply to maintenance schedule & completion of preventive maintenance programs
• Training & supervision of operators on daily maintenance tasks for equipment
• Ability to react to unscheduled breakdowns with urgency
• Help to eliminate machine downtime
• Coordinate outside maintenance services as required
• Order parts as required to keep equipment operating in a safe/efficient basis
• Follows all Company ISO policies and procedures
• Abides by all Company safety rules and environmental guidelines
• Work in a safe and efficient manner
• Keep work areas clean and organized
