Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Hicksville, NY is seeking a General Maintenance Technician to perform mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic maintenance on manufacturing equipment. You will service HVAC, boiler, plumbing and metalworking tasks, using precision tools and basic welding to fabricate parts.

Qualified candidates have experience with AC/DC motors, safety training, and basic computer skills; overtime may be required.

Qualifications

Ability to properly use rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments.
Working knowledge of AC/DC motors.
Training in basic electrical and mechanical safety.
Basic computer experience.

Responsibilities

Performs mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance of manufacturing equipment.
Repairs and maintains facility systems (HVAC, chiller, boiler, plumbing, compressed air, and humidification).
Tests and treats boiler feed water with specified chemicals.
Troubleshoots and resolves mechanical problems and makes repairs as needed.
Performs basic welding, brazing, and cutting to fabricate items such as guardrails, brackets, and hangers.
Repairs and maintains interior and exterior surfaces including masonry, wallboard, ceiling tiles, woodwork, etc.
