The role requires documenting fixes in CMMS, training Technician I, leading line changeovers with sanitation, and collaborating with production and sanitation to ensure equipment

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on conveyors, ovens, freezers, pumps, motors, gearboxes, and packaging systems.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues to minimize downtime.
  • Lead equipment changeovers and maintain sanitation during startups.
  • Calibrate sensors, scales, and automated controls to ensure product quality.
  • Document fixes and recurring issues in the CMMS for tracking and analysis.
  • Coach Maintenance Technician I and support skills development.
  • Coordinate with parts room to ensure critical spares are available.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Follow GMPs, HACCP, SQF, and safety practices including LOTO and PPE.
  • Collaborate with production and sanitation to ensure equipment readiness and reliability.

Job description

Your day at a glanceYou arrive on the floor, scan the CMMS for work orders, and grab your tools. First up: a preventive maintenance check on a conveyor and its gearbox, followed by a quick calibration on a checkweigher to keep product quality on spec. Mid-shift, production calls—an oven fan motor is tripping. You isolate power using LOTO, diagnose the electrical fault, swap the motor, and document the fix before leading a packaging line changeover with sanitation close behind. Before the day ends, you mentor a Technician I through a pneumatic valve rebuild, then log recurring issues for root cause analysis and parts needs.What you’ll take onPerform intermediate-level preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on conveyors, ovens, freezers, pumps, motors, and packaging systems.Independently troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues to minimize downtime.Lead/support equipment changeovers while adhering to sanitation protocols for swift, clean startups.Calibrate and fine-tune sensors, scales, and automated controls to maintain product quality.Keep precise records in the CMMS; surface repeat failures and risks early.Coach and develop Maintenance Technician I team members.Partner with the parts room to sustain critical spares availability.Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.Follow GMPs, HACCP, and SQF; uphold safety practices including LOTO, confined space entry, and proper PPE.Collaborate closely with production and sanitation to ensure equipment readiness and reliability.Keep maintenance work areas and tools organized and sanitary.Equipment and systems you’ll encounterAdvanced troubleshooting of conveyors, ovens, freezers, baggers, wrappers, pumps, motors, gearboxes, compressors, and ammonia systems.Calibration and diagnostics for packaging and palletizing equipment.Utilities support, including compressed air and refrigeration.Food safety and compliance mindsetEnforce plant food safety requirements and ensure tools/equipment are accounted for after each task.Prevent cross-contamination by maintaining clean attire and avoiding allergen transfer.Clean and sanitize tools and equipment upon task completion.Apply knowledge of GMPs and food-industry regulatory expectations.Perform preventive, predictive, and emergency repairs to keep your line in peak condition.Support investigations related to customer complaint issues with production and sanitation.Maintain strong working relationships with production and sanitation partners.Utilize working knowledge of OSHA standards.Work with the Business Unit Manager and Quality Technical Manager to identify quality, food safety, or regulatory concerns.Help ensure the site is ready for third-party and customer audits/inspections.Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the Maintenance Manager or Maintenance Supervisor.
