Job summary

Dairy Farmers of America (DFA) is seeking a maintenance technician to ensure equipment operates effectively and safely. You will perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and overhauls of production and processing equipment, and support new installations.

The role requires knowledge of pneumatics, electrical systems, welding, and basic shop tools, with the ability to read schematics, document repairs, and train operators. A high school diploma and mechanical/electrical training are needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Two years of mechanical/electrical education certificate or equivalent work experience.
• Ability to perform electrical work (e.g., pump motors) and diagnose problems.
• Knowledge of pneumatics, solenoid valves and air cylinders.
• Ability to use standard maintenance tools safely.
• Ability to plan and install minor projects (non-sanitary piping, drains, vacuum lines).
• Perform routine repairs (pumps, boiler, HVAC, valves, piping leaks).
• Perform routine preventative maintenance and document it.
• Basic welding (tig/stick) for repair and fabrication.
• Follow process control variables and schematics; assist others as needed.
• Good interpersonal communication; pass a written maintenance test.
• Basic computer skills; read/write/speak English.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and/or repairs of production and processing equipment and related utilities.
• Support the installation of new equipment.
• Assist operators with training or troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
• Ensure all repairs are documented.
• Adhere to safety policies and procedures and GMP/SQF requirements.
• Maintain safe working conditions and comply with health and safety regulations.
• Demonstrate company values and ethics in daily work.
• Attend required training including Safety, GMP, HACCP, SQF.
