Job summary

Russel Metals USA Inc. in Pompano Beach, FL is seeking a maintenance technician responsible for electrical and mechanical upkeep. You will perform diagnostics, repair, lubrication, and preventive maintenance on equipment, and document maintenance data.

The role requires reading blueprints, operating cranes, and supporting operations to minimize downtime. Must have vocational training or journey-level experience in electrical/mechanical trades, with 2+ years in general maintenance.

Qualifications

• Must have Vocational/Trade School education in electrical/mechanical work or Journey-level experience.
• Basic measuring skills to read and convert English and Metric systems.
• Basic arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions.
• Experience on overhead crane operation and maintenance.
• Requires a competent technical aptitude and manual dexterity.
• Position requires availability for emergency call-outs to evenings/weekends.
• Minimum 2 years experience in general maintenance repair work that includes electrical and mechanical.

Responsibilities

• Understands and follows all company safety policies and procedures.
• Performs and documents pre-shift inspection of equipment as required.
• Dismantles machines and removes parts for repair using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes, or hoists.
• Reassembles machines after repairs according to manufacturer requirements.
• Starts machines and observes mechanical operation to determine efficiency and detect problems.
• Inspects or tests damaged machine parts and marks defective areas or advises supervisor of repair needs.
• Lubricates or applies adhesives or other materials to machines or parts per procedures.
• Installs, replaces, or changes machine parts and attachments according to production specs.
• Records production, repair, and maintenance information.
• Reads work orders and specs to determine machines needing repair or maintenance.
• Sets up and operates machines and adjusts controls.
• Collaborates with others to repair or move machines or equipment.
• Maintains equipment files and orders spare-parts inventory; supports preventive maintenance.
• May occasionally drive company vehicle for local parts pickup.
