Job summary

QPS Employment Group in Fairfield, IA is seeking a Maintenance Technician to inspect, troubleshoot, and repair heavy industrial equipment in a 1st shift role. You will work with induction furnaces, molding lines, conveyors, and welders, following LOTO procedures and documenting repairs.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, 2–3 years of industrial maintenance experience, and familiarity with electrical schematics, VFDs, and welding.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associates degree or vocational training preferred in related field.
• Experience in industrial maintenance in foundry/steel/metals environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair heavy industrial production equipment including furnaces, molding lines, conveyors, and cranes.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control system failures.
• Rebuild/replace components such as bearings, gearboxes, motors, pumps, belts, pulleys, and rollers.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance per programs.
• Conduct routine equipment inspections: gauges, oil, temp, vibration, condition.
• Change filters, inspect drive belts, monitor fluids, lubricate.
• Use welding (stick, MIG, TIG) to repair machinery/structure.
• Fabricate guards, brackets, supports, and rigging components.
• Operate fabrication tools: band saws, mag drills, grinders.
• Follow Lockout/Tagout procedures and zero-energy verification.
• Maintain detailed maintenance records of repairs and parts.
• Wear PPE and follow safety standards.
