Job description

MILLWRIGHT

OPelika, Alabama

Our Millwright position is a key player in a company-wide continuous improvement effort through daily troubleshooting, and predictive and preventative maintenance strategies. As a member of this high-performing team, you will be responsible for working safely with all machinery within the mill.

What you will do:
  1. Repair and maintain industrial equipment, including conveying systems, major machine centers such as debarkers, canters, gang saws, and edgers.
  2. Read and understand drawings and printed instructions.
  3. Work safely under high-pressure situations as a self-starter.
  4. Understand line-ups of pumps, sheaves, sprockets, and machine centers.
  5. Move machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
  6. Adjust tension on nuts and bolts or position parts using hand tools and measuring instruments to set specified clearances.
  7. Align machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb tools.
  8. Assemble and install equipment with hand and power tools.
  9. Lay out mounting holes with measuring instruments and drill with a power drill.
  10. Replace defective parts or adjust clearances and alignment of moving parts.
  11. Level bedplates and establish centerlines using straightedges, levels, and transit.
  12. Dismantle machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools.
  13. Attach moving parts and subassemblies to basic assemblies using hand and power tools.
What you need to be successful:
  • Safety-oriented with compliance to ZES standards.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Own basic tools.
  • Minimum 3 years verifiable experience as a millwright in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with cutting torches (Oxygen/Acetylene).
  • Welding experience (GMAW and SMAW).
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, overtime, and be on-call for 24/7 operations.
  • Successful completion of assessment tests, pre-employment drug screening, physical, and background checks.
