Job summary

Athens Services is seeking a Plant Maintenance Technician for its California facility. You will repair and maintain machinery and equipment, using hand and power tools plus precision instruments.

You will diagnose issues and perform repairs, with increasing responsibility as you gain experience, and assist with housekeeping duties. The role requires 3 years of maintenance experience, a high school diploma, fabrication knowledge (MIG/TIG/Arc/Oxy-Acetylene/brazing), and OSHA-compliant practices.

Qualifications

  • 3 years' maintenance and repair experience in production environments.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Fabrication knowledge: MIG/TIG/Arc welding, Oxy-Acetylene, brazing.
  • Sufficient knowledge of plant component repairs and replacements.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical/mechanical issues safely and efficiently.
  • Respect OSHA rules and maintain professional conduct.
  • Valid Driver's License and clean driving record.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks with or without accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Observe mechanical devices in operation and troubleshoot problems.
  • Dismantle devices to access/replace defective parts using hand/power tools.
  • Inspect parts for dimensional changes using calipers, micrometers, rulers.
  • Adjust functional parts and control instruments with tools.
  • Inform Maintenance Supervisor/Manager of operational issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Comply with safety, health, environmental, and company policies.
  • General plant maintenance inspections and repairs including welding/cutting.
  • Maintain, repair, and clean equipment such as conveyors and filters.

Job description

The Plant Maintenance Technician reports to the Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Supervisor. The Plant Maintenance Technician is responsible for repairing and maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment, such as motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, production machines and equipment using hand tools, power tools and precision measuring testing instruments. Diagnoses machinery components and determines if and when adjustments or repairs are required. Increasing level of responsibility per experience. This position will also require housekeeping/cleaning responsibilities as needed throughout the shift.

Essential Job Functions
  • Observes mechanical devices in operation and troubleshoots problems
  • Dismantles device to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, hand tools and power tools
  • Inspects used parts to determine changes on dimensional requirements, using rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments
  • Adjusts functional parts of device and control instruments using hand and/or power tools
  • Advise the Maintenance Supervisor/Manager of any operational problems
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Complies with all safety, health, environmental, and other Company policies, procedures and requirements
  • General plant maintenance inspection and diagnosis & repairs
  • Welding & cutting as needed
  • Maintain, repair and clean MRF Equipment, including but not limited to upper and lower shaker decks, conveyor tunnels, walking floor tunnels, conveyor, beds, head & tail pulley
  • Maintain, repair and clean exhaust fans, including but not limited to air and carbon filter

Required Qualification

  • s:3 years' experience in maintenance & repair in production style environmen
  • t.High School Diploma or G.E.
  • D.Fabrication knowledge (Mig/Tig/Arc/Oxy Acetylene/brazing etc
  • .)Sufficient working knowledge regarding plant component repairs and replacement
  • s.Ability to effectively troubleshoot and identify electrical/mechanical issues and complete in a safe timely manne
  • r.Perform all tasks safely and in accordance with applicable OSHA rules and regulation

  • l.Valid Class C Driver's Licens

This third shift position will receive a $3.00 differential in addition to the base hourly rate. The schedule for this role is Monday - Saturday from 9:00 pm - 5:30

am.
