Job summary

WestRock Company is seeking a Maintenance Technician in Texas. The role supports maintenance of electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and plant equipment, including corrugator lines and conveyors.

The schedule is Monday to Friday, 10pm–6am with overtime or weekend requirements and on-call training for first shift for two weeks. The technician will work on electrical and mechanical repair, perform machine movements, monitor boiler operation, and help keep work areas

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining electrical and mechanical systems within a manufacturing setting.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics and follow SOPs.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Able to work in varying temperatures and lift up to 75 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Maintain machines and plant equipment.
• Includes Corrugator, Flexo, EVO, Folder Gluer, conveyors, boilers, fans and motors.
• Move equipment and machinery.
• Monitor boiler operation and perform minor corrections as needed.
• Conduct plant rounds and maintain housekeeping in maintenance areas.
• Report electrical/mechanical problems to Maintenance Manager or Plant Manager.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

$28-$39/hr DOE

M-F 10p-6a flexible for overtime or weekends as needed. Typically, 1 big weekend project a month, and will need to train on first shift 6a-2p for two weeks +

The Opportunity:

A Maintenance Technician maintains, tests and repairs electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components, welding and machining a plus. This position is responsible for the maintenance of electrical, Corrugator, EVOL, Flexo, Folder Gluer, Conveyors, and overall care of the plant.

Applies knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation. Provides skilled mechanical and electrical/electronic support to all areas of manufacturing for the non-union plant.

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:

• Maintain machines and plant equipment.
• Including but not limited to: Corrugator, Flexo, EVO, Folder Gluer, conveyors, boilers, fans, and motors.
• Move equipment and machinery.
• Monitor boiler operation and perform minor corrections when applicable.
• Continuously check in on designated areas of the plant during plant rounds.
• Maintain work area and tend to general housekeeping requirements of maintenance work areas.
• Correct electrical and mechanical problems and report major concerns to Maintenance Manager, Shift Supervisor, and/or Plant Manager.
• Preform other duties as assigned.

• Ability to maintain work area cleanliness and general housekeeping regarding maintenance related areas.
• Ability to read, write, and follow directions in regard to SOP’s, Management instructions, and other job-related instructions.
• Basic communication skills required.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to operate and maintain equipment in a safe manner at all times.
• Ability to self-manage, prioritize, multi-task and work under deadlines.
• Ability to perform manual tasks under varying temperatures conditions in usually an indoor manufacturing environment.
• Ability to drive and properly operate a motor vehicle.
• Ability to transport and deliver a wide variety of tools, equipment, and materials.
• Ability to perceive depth.

• Ability to work with a variety of equipment including but not limited to Tow Motors, lift truck, man lifts, computers, telephones, fax machines, copy machines, calculators, and different types of software.
• Ability to work with a variety of tools. Including but not limited to: multi meters, welder, cutting torch, grinder, drills, and utility knives.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position
• Semi-moderate to moderate physical activity.
• Including but not limited to sitting, standing, hand/arm manipulation, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, seeing, touching/feeling, hearing, and crouching.
• Ability to lift up to 75lbs.
