MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN
$28-$39/hr DOE
M-F 10p-6a flexible for overtime or weekends as needed. Typically, 1 big weekend project a month, and will need to train on first shift 6a-2p for two weeks +
The Opportunity:
A Maintenance Technician maintains, tests and repairs electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components, welding and machining a plus. This position is responsible for the maintenance of electrical, Corrugator, EVOL, Flexo, Folder Gluer, Conveyors, and overall care of the plant.
Applies knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation. Provides skilled mechanical and electrical/electronic support to all areas of manufacturing for the non-union plant.
How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:
- Maintain machines and plant equipment.
- Including but not limited to: Corrugator, Flexo, EVO, Folder Gluer, conveyors, boilers, fans, and motors.
- Move equipment and machinery.
- Monitor boiler operation and perform minor corrections when applicable.
- Continuously check in on designated areas of the plant during plant rounds.
- Maintain work area and tend to general housekeeping requirements of maintenance work areas.
- Correct electrical and mechanical problems and report major concerns to Maintenance Manager, Shift Supervisor, and/or Plant Manager.
- Preform other duties as assigned.
What you need to succeed:
- Ability to maintain work area cleanliness and general housekeeping regarding maintenance related areas.
- Ability to read, write, and follow directions in regard to SOP’s, Management instructions, and other job-related instructions.
- Basic communication skills required.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to operate and maintain equipment in a safe manner at all times.
- Ability to self-manage, prioritize, multi-task and work under deadlines.
- Ability to perform manual tasks under varying temperatures conditions in usually an indoor manufacturing environment.
- Ability to drive and properly operate a motor vehicle.
- Ability to transport and deliver a wide variety of tools, equipment, and materials.
- Ability to perceive depth.
- Ability to read blueprints
- Ability to read schematics
- Ability to work with a variety of equipment including but not limited to Tow Motors, lift truck, man lifts, computers, telephones, fax machines, copy machines, calculators, and different types of software.
- Ability to work with a variety of tools. Including but not limited to: multi meters, welder, cutting torch, grinder, drills, and utility knives.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position
- Semi-moderate to moderate physical activity.
- Including but not limited to sitting, standing, hand/arm manipulation, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, seeing, touching/feeling, hearing, and crouching.
- Ability to lift up to 75lbs.
