Job summary

Darling Ingredients in Clinton, IA is seeking a Maintenance Worker 1 responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance in the plant under supervision. You will assist in installing new equipment and support fabrication projects, with daily upkeep of motors, gear boxes, pumps and piping.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience operating a forklift.
• Experience welding, electrical and mechanical systems.
• Vocational school training preferred.
• 2 years experience with similar equipment preferred.
• Basic knowledge of general maintenance and equipment operations.
• Welding proficiency in MIG and Stick as well as vertical and overhead.
• Proficiency in control power electric.
• Good math skills; basic arithmetic.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the installation of new equipment.
• Assist the Maintenance Supervisor and/or other personnel on special fabrication and construction projects.
• If above level 1 maintenance, you will train Level 1 Maintenance personnel.
• Perform machine repair and installation such as replacing motors, rebuilding gear boxes, running threaded piping, welding piping, overhaul pumps, and packing shaft seals on cookers and pumps.
• Conduct daily greasing and oiling of plant equipment.
• Diagnose and replace equipment parts with little or no direction.
• Ability to diagnose and repair control circuits and VFD installations.
• Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area at all times.
• Observe all Company safety rules and regulations; attend safety meetings; may serve on Safety Committee.
• All other duties as assigned.
