Job summary

PLASTIC RECYCLING, INC. is seeking an experienced Industrial Maintenance Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair plant equipment across shredders, grinders, wash lines, and extrusion lines.

You will be responsible for preventive maintenance, routine repairs, and aiding in new machinery installations to ensure safe, efficient operations. The role requires strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic knowledge, ability to read schematics, and basic PLC familiarity.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment OR technical or vocational training certificate within the last 18 months.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical circuits, and hydraulics.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
• Welding and fabrication skills are a plus.
• Familiarity with PLCs is a plus.
• Basic troubleshooting.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in industrial conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on all plant equipment according to schedules.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on production machinery.
• Troubleshoot PLC-controlled systems and assist with minor programming adjustments.
• Maintain and repair pumps, motors, conveyors, gearboxes, and other components.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime.
• Assist in installation and commissioning of new machinery.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs and documentation (via CMMS).
• Maintain shop cleanliness.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, including lockout/tagout procedures.
• Collaborate with production teams to identify and resolve recurring issues.
• Order and manage spare parts inventory as needed.
