Job summary

Wayne-Sanderson Farms in Decatur, AL is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to assist in the maintenance and repair of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and conveying systems within our poultry processing plant. The role requires reading blueprints, performing preventative maintenance and troubleshooting to keep equipment running within specifications.

Qualified candidates have at least 1 year of industrial maintenance experience or equivalent mechanical/electrical knowledge, a High School Diploma

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; NOCTI Mechanical/Electrical Level 1 required.
• Minimum 1 year experience in industrial machine predictive and preventative maintenance or demonstrated mechanical and electrical knowledge.
• Intermediate math and computer skills.
• Ability to operate basic hand and power tools.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays and extended shift hours.
• Sound work ethic and honesty.

Responsibilities

• Repair and perform preventive maintenance on industrial machinery (mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, conveying systems) using blueprints to ensure safe operation.
• Identify root causes and perform repairs by welding, fabricating parts, basic pipefitting or replacing defective components.
• Notify appropriate personnel if further attention is required.
• Identify unsafe conditions and correct them.
• Report to appropriate personnel if unable to correct on own.
• Assist with maintaining a file of blueprints, manuals and procedures.
• Comply with company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines and all laws and regulations.
• All other duties as assigned.
