Job summary

CF&I Steel, L.P. is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Supervisor, Mechanical to lead maintenance operations in a heavy industrial steel facility.

The role emphasizes mechanical systems, equipment reliability, and uptime, supervising a team of mechanical and electrical technicians, and collaborating with production, reliability, and safety teams. Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of industrial maintenance in heavy manufacturing environments.
  • Minimum 5 years of maintenance leadership or supervisory experience required.
  • Journeyman Millwright or Industrial Mechanic credentials preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering preferred, or 7 years’ equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead maintenance safety programs and ensure compliance with OSHA, LOTO, hot work, confined space, fall protection, machine guarding, and company safety standards.
  • Provide technical leadership for troubleshooting, repairing, upgrading, and installing mechanical systems across steelmaking, casting, rolling, and material handling operations.
  • Oversee maintenance activities for hydraulic and pneumatic systems, pumps, compressors, gearboxes, conveyors, cranes, hoists, rotating equipment, and process water systems.
  • Coordinate planned outages, shutdowns, equipment rebuilds, and major maintenance projects to minimize downtime and maximize production reliability.
  • Direct resources during emergency breakdowns and ensure timely execution of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Lead reliability-centered maintenance initiatives and RCFA, and continuous improvement efforts to improve equipment performance.
  • Develop, mentor, and manage maintenance personnel through training, performance management, succession planning, and apprenticeship programs.
  • Optimize labor utilization, contractor performance, maintenance planning, scheduling, and CMMS effectiveness to support plant goals.
  • Partner with Production, Engineering, Reliability, and Electrical/Automation to resolve equipment issues and execute capital projects.
  • Maintain maintenance standards, procedures, documentation, and records while promoting accountability and continuous improvement.

This position supervises a team of mechanical and Electrical maintenance technicians while ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of critical production equipment.The ideal candidate has extensive experience in heavy industrial environments and demonstrated leadership in maintenance supervision.
