Job summary

CF&I Steel, L.P. is seeking a Quality Assurance Technician to verify conformance with Rocky Mountain Steel Mills standards and customer specs using non-destructive testing, gauges and visual inspection.

The role involves preparing samples, operating shop equipment, and maintaining safety procedures in a heavy industrial setting. The ideal candidate will have NDT background, ability to read process sheets, and experience with metrology equipment such as micrometers and tensile machines.

Qualifications

  • Experience in non-destructive testing and quality inspection in heavy industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret process sheets and specifications.
  • Familiarity with ISO standards and quality control practices.

Responsibilities

  • Verify product conformance to standards and customer specs using NDT methods and gauges.
  • Investigate metallurgical problems and evaluate products using microscope and tensile equipment.
  • Prepare samples with lathes, grinders, cut-off machines and other shop equipment.
  • Maintain safety and cleanliness, operate as needed, assist maintenance.
  • Generate reports for traceability and inventory.

As a team we collaborate to solve problems, contribute ideas and challenge each other to ensure growth and ultimately success for the business and our employees.Job ResponsibilitiesAs a Quality Assurance Technician, you will verify product conformance to Rocky Mountain Steel Mills standard requirements and customer specifications using non-destructive testing methods, gauges, and visual inspection. You will investigate routine metallurgical problems, determine compliance with specifications and evaluate products utilizing microscope, hardness, and tensile machines. You will prepare samples using lathes grinders, cut-off machines, power saws, drill presses, milling and turning machines, polishing equipment, and measuring tools. You will work with various measuring devices, hand tools, materials, supplies, equipment, and necessary safety equipment.
