Job summary

American Iron & Metal (AIM) in Phoenix, AZ is hiring an experienced Industrial Maintenance Mechanic/Millwright to join our team on site. You will read blueprints, install and align heavy machinery, operate cranes, troubleshoot equipment, and perform preventive maintenance to keep systems running reliably.

The role requires welding proficiency, ability to work in varying weather, and independence to prioritize urgent tasks in a dynamic metal recycling environment.

Qualifications

• Experience working safely in a heavy industrial environment.
• Comfort working indoors/outdoors in varying weather.
• Proficient welding and basic equipment repair.
• Experience completing preventative maintenance tasks and work orders with proper parts documentation.
• Eager to learn and operate state-of-the-art equipment and diagnostics.
• Able to work independently and prioritize tasks by production urgency.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints, diagrams, and schematics to determine work procedures.
• Install, align, dismantle and move stationary machinery and equipment per layout plans using hand and power tools.
• Operate hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery during installation, setup and repair.
• Inspect machinery to detect irregularities and malfunctions.
• Install, troubleshoot and maintain power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Clean, lubricate and perform routine maintenance on equipment.
• Assemble machinery prior to installation using hand/power tools and welding equipment.
