Job summary

O'Neal Manufacturing Services is seeking an experienced industrial maintenance technician for second shift in Ambridge, PA. You will review PM schedules, diagnose VFD faults, align gearboxes, fabricate brackets, and perform PLC I/O checks to prevent nuisance trips.

Responsibilities include repairing and maintaining CNC cells and material handling lines, ensuring safety and quality procedures, and documenting work.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in a manufacturing/industrial setting.
• Hands-on troubleshooting with CNC equipment, processing equipment, material handling systems, presses.
• Welding certification required and oxy-acetylene torch work experience.
• Experience with electrical tests and PLC/VFD troubleshooting.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and maintain documentation.

Job description

Compensation: $24–$29 per hour, paid weekly. Second shift receives an additional $4/hr shift differential. Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 3:30 PM–2:00 AM, with weekend overtime (Friday–Sunday) as needed.

A day in this role

You arrive for second shift, review the maintenance log, and prioritize PMs across CNC cells, material handling lines, and press brakes. Early in the evening, you diagnose a VFD fault, verify wiring with a multimeter, and bring the line back up. Later, you align a gearbox and motor using laser tools, fabricate a stainless bracket to secure a guard, and complete a PLC I/O check to eliminate a nuisance trip. Safety huddles, code-compliant electrical work, and thorough documentation anchor your night. Before clocking out, you stage parts for tomorrow, rig a pump for removal, and verify the week’s PMs are closed.

What you’ll do

• Champion a strong safety culture and adhere to established quality processes.
• Repair, rebuild, and perform preventive maintenance on industrial machinery and mechanical systems.
• Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical/electronic wiring, equipment, machinery, apparatus, and fixtures using hand, power, and precision measuring tools.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components with test equipment and hand tools.
• Terminate and connect conductors to circuit breakers, transformers, and related components.
• Calculate, lay out/draw, balance, and align equipment; perform precision laser alignment and vibration checks.
• Execute rigging tasks safely; support other safety-related and miscellaneous maintenance functions.
• Fabricate mechanical parts (fittings, valves, etc.) from cold-rolled steel, stainless, plate, and structural members.
• Maintain electrical equipment in compliance with local, state, and federal codes.
• Perform miscellaneous electrical functions along with rigging responsibilities as assigned.
• Support continuous improvement by following and improving safety and quality procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Skills and experience

• 2+ years in a manufacturing/industrial setting.
• Hands-on troubleshooting with CNC equipment, advanced processing equipment, material handling systems, press brakes, lifting devices, and sawing equipment.
• Solid mechanical aptitude; pipefitting knowledge; predictive and preventive maintenance experience.
• Laser alignment and vibration monitoring expertise.
• Oxy-acetylene torch work and welding proficiency; welding certification required.
• Comfortable working from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical systems and fixtures.
• Forklift and high-lift operation, performed safely.
• VFD programming competency and PLC troubleshooting ability.
• Proficient with hand/power tools and electrical test equipment (ohmmeters, voltmeters, oscilloscopes) to verify continuity, compatibility, and system safety.
• Experience with mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
• Ability to speak, read, and write conversational English.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Physical and environmental demands

• Lift 20–50 lbs repeatedly during a shift.
• Regular bending, sitting, standing, climbing, twisting, and stooping for extended periods.
• Walk 2–5 miles per shift.
• Vision: 20/30 with corrective lenses.
• Fine motor coordination to grasp and manipulate parts with precision.

Work occurs in indoor/outdoor industrial environments with changing temperatures, elevated noise, and equipment vibration. Potential exposures include:

• Hazards: Moving mechanical parts, electrical current, work at heights (scaffolds), high heat, and chemicals.
• Atmospheric: Fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, or areas with limited ventilation.
• Oils: Air and/or skin contact with oils and cutting fluids.
