Job summary

UPS is seeking a Building and Systems Engineering (BaSE) Mechanics to perform maintenance at a package handling facility. You will troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, and weld when needed.

This role supports a 24x7 operation with first, second, or third shift availability. Strong electrical background and safety-minded approach are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have strong electrical background and pass electrical assessment.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing AC/DC electrical equipment.
• Skilled with motors, conveyors, and drive systems.
• Welding and fabrication skills for safety components.
• Ability to perform preventive maintenance on plant equipment.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, adjust, and replace AC/DC electrical equipment (batteries, relays, VFDs, encoders).
• Inspect and repair mechanical components (motors, bearings, pulleys, conveyors).
• Inspect and service pneumatic equipment (diverters, hoses, coils).
• Inspect and service hydraulic equipment (hoses, cylinders, pumps).
• Weld handrails, supports, and equipment as required.
• Conduct preventive maintenance inspections of conveyors and power equipment.

Job Description: UPS is currently hiring a Building and Systems Engineering (BaSE) Mechanics. This position is responsible for maintenance activities performed to keep a UPS package handling facility operating efficiently and effectively. The work is fast-paced and requires routine interaction with other hub employees. Ideal candidates must be available to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift, in a 24 x 7 operation. Possible shift will be 3rd shift hours: Mon - Fri from 10:30pm - 7am Candidate requires strong electrical background and must pass electrical assessment.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Troubleshooting, adjusting, and replacing AC and DC electrical equipment such as batteries, control stations, fuses, motor starters, relays, switches, timers, servo driven equipment, photo electrical devices, transducers, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD's) and encoders
• Inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and/or replacing mechanical components such as motors, reducers, drive chains, sprockets, sheaves, pulleys, rollers, conveyor belts, bearings, and transfer plates
• Inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and/or replacing pneumatic equipment such as diverters, lubricators, hoses, and coils
• Inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and/or replacing hydraulic equipment such as hoses, fittings, cylinders, and pumps
• Welding equipment such as handrails, conveyor supports, package handling equipment, carts, and grating as defined by scope of work
• Performing preventive maintenance inspections of plant equipment such as conveyors, bulk carts, and power industrial equipment

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The starting pay for this position is $40.13 per hour. For union-represented postings, wage rates and ranges and benefit offerings are governed by applicable collective bargaining agreement provisions. Hired applicants are eligible for weekly pay, extensive training, 401(K), defined-benefit pension plan, medical-dental and vision after waiting and or probation period, $0 healthcare premium, paid vacation, paid sick and family and medical leave time as required by law, paid holidays, discounted employee stock purchase program.
