Job summary

UPS is hiring Building and Systems Engineering (BaSE) Mechanics to perform maintenance that keeps a package handling facility operating efficiently. The role requires strong electrical experience and the ability to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift in a 24x7 operation.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems, inspecting and repairing conveyors, motors, pneumatics, hydraulics, and performing preventive maintenance.

Qualifications

• Must have strong electrical background and be able to troubleshoot electrical equipment.
• Must be able to work 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift in a 24x7 operation.
• Experience in mechanical maintenance of motors, drive systems, belts and bearings is preferred.
• Welding experience for structural components is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshooting, adjusting, and replacing AC and DC electrical equipment such as batteries, control stations, fuses, motor starters, relays, switches, timers, servo driven equipment, photo electrical devices, transducers, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD’s) and encoders
• Inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and/or replacing mechanical components such as motors, reducers, drive chains, sprockets, sheaves, pulleys, rollers, conveyor belts, bearings, and transfer plates
• Inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and/or replacing pneumatic equipment such as diverters, lubricators, hoses, and coils
• Inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and/or replacing hydraulic equipment such as hoses, fittings, cylinders, and pumps
• Welding equipment such as handrails, conveyor supports, package handling equipment, carts, and grating as defined by scope of work
• Performing preventive maintenance inspections of plant equipment such as conveyors, bulk carts, and power industrial equipment.

The work is fast-paced and requires routine interaction with other hub employees. Ideal candidates must be available to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift, in a 24 x 7 operation. This position requires strong electrical background and must pass electrical assessment.

Requirements

• Must be able to work various shifts Monday-Friday; Sunday-Thursday; Tuesday- Saturday
• Must be able to work an 8hours shift on either 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. For union-represented postings, wage rates and ranges and benefit offerings are governed by applicable collective bargaining agreement provisions. Starting pay $40.21 with a 1-year progression to TOP PAY $47.31 Hired applicants are eligible for weekly pay, extensive training, 401(K), defined-benefit pension plan, medical-dental and vision after waiting and or probation period, $0 healthcare premium, paid vacation, paid sick and family and medical leave time as required by law, paid holidays, discounted employee stock purchase program.
