Job Description:

UPS is currently hiring Building and Systems Engineering (BaSE) Mechanics. This position is responsible for maintenance activities performed to keep a UPS package handling facility operating efficiently and effectively. The work is fast-paced and requires routine interaction with other hub employees. Ideal candidates must be available to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift, in a 24 x 7 operation, and be open to travel to various locations as needed. Candidates require a strong electrical background and must pass an electrical assessment.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Troubleshooting, adjusting, and replacing AC and DC electrical equipment such as batteries, control stations, fuses, motor starters, relays, switches, timers, servo-driven equipment, photoelectrical devices, transducers, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and encoders.
  2. Inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and/or replacing mechanical components such as motors, reducers, drive chains, sprockets, sheaves, pulleys, rollers, conveyor belts, bearings, and transfer plates.
  3. Inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and/or replacing pneumatic equipment such as diverters, lubricators, hoses, and coils.
  4. Inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and/or replacing hydraulic equipment such as hoses, fittings, cylinders, and pumps.
  5. Welding equipment such as handrails, conveyor supports, package handling equipment, carts, and grating as defined by scope of work.
  6. Performing preventive maintenance inspections of plant equipment such as conveyors, bulk carts, and power industrial equipment.

The starting pay for this position is $38.85 per hour. Hired applicants are eligible for weekly pay, extensive training, 401(k), defined-benefit pension plan, medical-dental and vision coverage after probation, $0 healthcare premium, paid vacation, sick leave, family and medical leave, paid holidays, and employee stock purchase program.

Pay Range: The starting pay rate is $38.85/hr, with benefits subject to eligibility requirements, including weekly pay, training, growth opportunities, 401(k), pension, insurance, paid leave, holidays, education assistance, and stock purchase program.
