Job summary

Brigham Young University seeks an experienced Maintenance Specialist to ensure safe, reliable operation of laundry, print, and mail equipment across the department. You will troubleshoot complex systems, manage preventative maintenance, and coordinate with vendors.

You will supervise student staff, maintain CMMS records, and contribute to cost analyses and equipment investments while upholding OSHA safety standards and university policies.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of maintenance or equipment repair experience in industrial settings.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and electronic systems.
• Experience leading or supervising student staff.
• Experience using CMMS or maintenance software to track repairs.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair industrial laundry, print, and mail equipment.
• Obtain and maintain manufacturer certifications for direct parts purchasing.
• Evaluate repair complexity and coordinate with external specialists when required.
• Advise management on cost-effectiveness of in-house vs vendor maintenance.
• Interpret electrical schematics, PLCs, and control systems for troubleshooting.
• Develop and monitor preventative maintenance schedules for all equipment.
• Maintain spare parts inventory to minimize downtime.
• Respond rapidly to urgent breakdowns to keep operations running.
• Serve as liaison with campus Physical Facilities and vendors.
• Recruit, train, and supervise student maintenance staff.
• Track downtime and contribute to budgeting and capital cost planning.
• Participate in safety audits and hazard analyses.
