Job summary

Vesuvius North America is seeking a motivated student intern to assist with inventory organization and maintenance data management at our Illinois facilities. You will learn CMMS usage, Excel data entry, and contribute to building standard work instructions for preventive maintenance and plant shutdowns.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; willing to learn CMMS.
  • Able to perform hands-on tasks in a maintenance environment.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability and eagerness to learn.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with inventory organization across multiple areas.
  • Support large-scale inventory and organization projects.
  • Develop SWIs for PMs and routine repairs during plant shutdowns.
  • Enter data accurately into CMMS and Excel.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to ensure documentation accuracy.
  • Maintain a safe, organized work environment.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Job description

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the organization and management of inventory across multiple areas (Maintenance storeroom, VMI room, Mix plant warehouse mezzanine, and/or other areas).
  • Support the completion of large‑scale inventory and organization projects.
  • Contribute to the development of Standard Work Instructions (SWIs) for Preventive Maintenance (PM) and routine repairs and rebuilds performed during plant shutdowns.
  • Perform accurate data entry into the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and team members to ensure accuracy and consistency in documentation.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment while performing tasks.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Industrial Technology, or a related field; second‑year standing or higher.
  • Coursework dealing with mechanical systems, maintenance practices, or related technical areas preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow direction and work independently.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and willingness to learn the CMMS system.
  • Ability to perform hands‑on tasks in a maintenance environment (majority of tasks will involve dirty or physically demanding work).
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving ability and eagerness to learn.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship now or in the future.
