Tyson Foods is hiring Maintenance Generalists in Cincinnati, OH. This on-site role is 2nd shift, with a 6-day workweek and a schedule from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM on production days; first shift is 5:30 AM to 2:30 PM on non-production days.

A $5,000 sign-on bonus and a potential pay step-up via skill testing are offered. Expect to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, and support safety initiatives across the facility.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide maintenance support to ensure safe and efficient operation of equipment.

Hours for this position: 2nd shift 6 days per week and production days work 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM and non production days work first shift 5:30am to 2:30pm. You will earn an extra $2.25 per hour for working the specified schedule.

The starting salary ranges from $26.20 to $37.45 per hour, depending on the skills and experience as assessed by the hiring manager. There is also a chance to elevate your pay by advancing to the next skill level through testing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Include, but are not limited to the following)

• Provide maintenance support with moderate supervision to ensure the safe and effective operation of equipment and team.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance repairs on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic plant equipment.
• Conduct emergency mechanical or electrical repairs as needed.
• Troubleshoot issues related to mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.
• Safely apply knowledge and troubleshooting skills to all assigned production equipment.
• Effectively interact with all plant personnel to accomplish plant and individual goals.
• Minimize downtime due to equipment failure.
• Must be able to work overtime and weekends as needed.
• Must be able and willing to furnish your own tools.

The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Education and Experience: Minimum 2 years of mechanic work experience documented in the work history section of the application or be a graduate of an industrial maintenance training program. (Can be a combination of employers as long as experience is at least 2 years).

SPECIAL SKILLS:

• Computer Skills: Basic computer skills necessary for logging information, processing daily work orders, and completing required documentation. Ability to learn and utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Communication Skills: Effective communication and basic math skills required.
• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbs. occasionally; ability to lift 20 lbs. frequently.
• Ability to stand on a hard surface for up to 12 hours per day.
• Ability to work in confined and tall spaces, walk, climb, utilize a ladder, operate a lift, bend, and stoop.
• Repetitive gripping, pushing, and pulling.
• Frequent overhead work.
• Temperatures inside the plant may vary from -25 degrees to over 100 degrees; outside work may also be needed.
• Basic math skills, including percentages, fractions, and measurements.
• Read and understand blueprints, manuals and work orders.

Leveling is determined during the interview process based on skillset, knowledge, and experience.

Candidates who have previously worked for Tyson will have a minimum rehire waiting period of 90 days and are limited to 3 times of employment.
