Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Maintenance Electrical Technician to diagnose, repair, recondition, overhaul, and maintain heavy equipment and components. The role runs Monday–Friday, 1:15 PM–9:45 PM, with 40–65 hours per week, in Houston, TX.

You will install and maintain production machines, perform emergency repairs, read schematics, troubleshoot PLCs, and ensure safety compliance. The ideal candidate has 1–3 years in industrial maintenance, strong electrical and mechanical skills, and the

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or GED.
• Able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.
• Provide own tools necessary to perform maintenance tasks.
• Highly motivated and able to work independently.
• 1 - 3 years’ work experience in an industrial maintenance environment.
• Completion of an electrical/industrial training or apprenticeship with relevant experience.
• Must be able to read schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Team-oriented with ability to work alongside multiple crafts.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain required certifications.
• Ability to read safety documents, manuals, and electrical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain production machines and plant equipment.
• Perform emergency and scheduled maintenance repairs.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems and repair parts.
• Read and interpret equipment manuals, work orders, schematics and PLC programs.
• Perform preventative maintenance on machines, equipment and facilities.
• Carry out plumbing and basic carpentry tasks as needed.
• Strictly follow safety policies and maintain good housekeeping.
