Job summary

TCAT Shelbyville is hiring a Full-Time Instructor in Industrial Maintenance Automation to deliver high-quality classroom, lab, and hands-on instruction for high school and adult students. The role emphasizes safety, practical training, and industry collaboration to prepare students for jobs in maintenance and automation.

You will teach basic electricity and electronics, PLCs, hydraulics, robotics, and preventive maintenance while maintaining records and supporting recruitment and job placement

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (HiSET acceptable).
• Postsecondary diploma or Associate degree in related field preferred.
• 3+ years of work experience in industrial maintenance, automation, manufacturing, mechatronics, or related field.
• Industry-certified training in industrial maintenance or automation preferred.
• Ability to teach both theory and hands-on application to high school and adult learners.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom, lab, and hands-on instruction in industrial maintenance automation.
• Demonstrate safe use of industry tools, equipment, and automation systems.
• Monitor and document student progress.
• Maintain accurate records and submit required reports.
• Create a safe training environment compliant with OSHA standards.
• Assist with student recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.
• Engage with business partners and advisory committees for program improvement.
• Participate in professional development to stay current in the field.
