Job summary

GEO Corrections & Detentions in Florida is seeking a Laundry Technician to manage laundry operations, monitor washers/dryers, and maintain equipment safety and inventory. The role requires attention to hygiene, security, and compliance with facility procedures.

You will perform routine maintenance, manage chemicals, and ensure the secure handling of clothing and supplies while supporting overall facility operations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Experience in the use of industrial machinery.
• Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.

Responsibilities

• Monitor daily usage and inspect the industrial washers and dryers, in addition to all other equipment in the laundry facility.
• Operate and control valves, switches and levers to start, operate, and stop the machinery, including temperature control of water.
• Perform basic maintenance and repair of laundry equipment using manuals and past history.
• Re-issue and exchange worn-out clothing.
• Maintain security measures by counting and making rounds through the laundry and conducting random searches.
• Maintain updated inventory of clothing and supplies and ensure proper return of cleaned clothing.
• Ensure the building and outside laundry area remains clean and secure.
• Account for all tools assigned to the laundry and report missing items.
• Control, issue, and account for all chemicals/hazardous materials used in laundry; ensure safety/ACA standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
