Job summary

Ministry of Justice is seeking a catering lead to work in a professional industrial kitchen within a prison. You will oversee offenders, ensuring nutritious, high-quality meals while supporting skill development and qualifications for those preparing for employment after release.

Expect a 37-hour week with shift patterns that may include hours outside 7am–7pm, weekends and public holidays. 20% unsocial hours pay applies and new recruits start at-band 4 salary.

Qualifications

• Must hold Level 2 food production certificate in hospitality/catering.
• Must hold Level 2 food hygiene certificate.
• Working towards or holding Level 3 catering qualification (e.g. City & Guilds 7061/7062 or NVQ Level 3).

Responsibilities

• Oversee offenders in preparing and cooking meals for the prison.
• Ensure meals are nutritious and comply with safety standards.
• Demonstrate team leadership in an industrial kitchen environment.
• Adhere to health, safety and hygiene regulations (HACCP).
