Job summary

Penn State University seeks an Industrial Hygienist to provide broad IH expertise and lead program management across campus locations. The role focuses on evaluating exposures, implementing control measures, and developing training materials to protect employee health.

The candidate will manage EHS programs, guide university personnel on regulatory requirements, and coordinate with architects, engineers, and maintenance teams to ensure safe working conditions. A CIH certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a field related to Industrial Hygiene or Environmental Health and Safety; 6+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to varied audiences.
• Ability to obtain medical clearance and wear respiratory protection when required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate exposures to workplace health hazards including airborne contaminants, noise, temperature extremes, and ergonomic stressors.
• Develop recommendations to control health hazards and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Manage assigned EHS programs and provide implementation guidance and training materials.
• Lead incident response related to health hazards and coordinate with EHS staff and campus partners.
