Job summary

King Industries, Inc. in Norwalk, CT is seeking an Industrial Hygienist to join our Safety and Health Team. The successful candidate will develop and manage IH programs to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and state/local regulations.

Required are a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Occupational Safety and Health, plus strong interpersonal skills and the ability to train employees and deliver drills. Onsite work five days per week in Norwalk, CT.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Occupational Safety and Health.
• Coursework/experience in Industrial Hygiene and/or Organic Chemistry.
• Experience in safety training and hazard communication is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage the Industrial Hygiene Program to ensure compliance with OSHA/EPA/local regulations.
• Develop and maintain IH policies, procedures, and protocols; communicate requirements to employees.
• Investigate hazardous condition reports and recommend corrective actions.
• Respond to emergencies and assist in drills and incident investigations.
• Develop and deliver IH training programs and safety presentations.
• Attend regulatory training to stay current on industry standards and practices.
• Perform qualitative and quantitative exposure assessments for production, laboratory, and maintenance operations.
• Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) and Hazard Communication (HAZCOM) programs.
• Assist with Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and annual safety objectives with Workers' Compensation insurer.
• Coordinate with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 initiatives and periodic audits.
