Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC) is offering internship/co‑op opportunities for high-performing college students to gain hands-on experience in safety, health, and environmental roles. Interns work alongside seasoned professionals and contribute to projects across refining, logistics, and HES&S areas.

Qualified candidates will be enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program, demonstrate strong academics, and be able to commit to on-site, full-time work terms.

Qualifications

• Desired majors include Occupational Safety & Health; Safety Management; Public Health; Industrial Hygiene; Environmental, Health, Safety & Sustainability; Fire Protection & Safety; Other related fields.
• Concurrent enrollment in a Bachelor's degree (or higher) seeking program for the duration of the internship experience.
• Strong academic performance.
• Available to work on site 40 hours per week.
• Must be able to safely ascend and descend multiple flights of stairs and/or ladders, and lift or carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Valid driver's license for work-related travel.
• Must be able to provide reliable transportation to and from place of work.
• Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Available for multiple work terms preferred.
• MIN - $24.09 per hour / MAX - $35.96 per hour

Responsibilities

• Safety and Industrial Hygiene interns/co-ops support all areas of the business, including Refining, Midstream Crude Oil & Products Logistics, Midstream Natural Gas & Natural Gas Liquids Services, and Occupational & Environmental Hygiene.
• Assist professionals in implementing health, safety, and security planning and compliance activities.
• Duties may include facility audits; employee training; industrial hygiene; equipment maintenance; incident investigations; emergency preparedness and response; regulatory inspections; and reporting.
